One of the most significant challenges being faced by organizations is putting right people in the right role in the right time. The Catalyst uses a range of offline and online simulations to assess talent based on given organizational competencies whether hiring from outside or promoting within.
The Catalyst Simulations can be customised for any industry. During the simulation, the participants are immersed in a situation facing business challenges similar to the one they would face at work.
During the simulation, some of the experiential exercises that would be involved are:
- Formulating and presenting their Strategy for driving the business
- Making real-time Decisions to drive the Execution of their Strategy
- Create the Foundation to support the Change required to Drive the Business forward
- Motivate and Inspire Teams to Succeed through Ambiguity, Uncertainty, Volatility and Complexity

Some online and offline simulations used by The Catalyst for Talent Assessment are:
Tactile simulation games based on MTa Learning Tools are flexible and adaptive and can be used to assess a range of competencies from time management, change management to team leadership and decision making.
The Participants are divided into teams of 4-5 each. Each team showcases their manufacturing capabilities by doing toy production of the 4 given toy designs in the stipulated time. Each team member will play the role of a Product Head turn by turn and will be responsible for manufacturing of toys of one design each. The other members will play the role of the production staff and follow instructions of the product head. Disruptions are introduced to challenge them at regular intervals.
The Participants are divided into groups of 4 each. Their objective is to create a required model/ prototype specified in the game. The game progresses through 4 stages. Various challenges are introduced at different levels. Team that showcases best production capacity in line with the requirement and adhering to quality standards emerges as the winning team.
The Participants are divided into groups of 4-5. Each team has to cook up a given recipe with the given ingredients. Some of the critical ingredients are available with other teams which they need to collect through influencing and collaboration. Various other challenges are introduced at different stages which push teams to think creatively and collaboratively to emerge as a winner.
The First Quarter
The First Quarter is an online simulation used for assessing leadership capabilities on three critical parameters of Business, People and Customer. It can be played as both individual as well as team game where participants need to take some crucial decisions pertaining to day to day challenges of a leader in his/her role.
Farming for Growth
This is an online simulation where teams compete with one another to acquire a high profile client. Competencies like building trust with clients, negotiating for win-win outcomes and agility come to the fore.
Simulations are designed to assess specific competencies. The simulation content, roles and examples are customised based on the need of the client. Standard assessment and observation sheets are created for recording observations and to eliminate bias in the assessment process. Certified assessors are used for running the simulation and are trained on the tool being used and the competencies which are to be assessed.
