What is Simulation
“Experiential learning is the process of developing personal understanding, knowledge, skills and attitudes through the analysis of, and reflection on, activity”.
In Simulation Based Learning, the simulation provides the platform for learning, whilst the careful analysis and reflection of the simulation journey and outcome develops the learning. The simulation is a close reflection of a real business environment. It can be a simple simulation with one learning outcome or a complex multi-player simulation involving multiple learning outcomes.

A simulation provides an immersive, real-life and risk-free environment through which participants can make decisions, see the impact of their decisions and learn and discover through their own experience.
While traditional learning programs have a retention of 10-20% only, simulations lead to a much higher retention of over 65%. Thus, using simulations to curate learning programs is a much more powerful tool than traditional mediums.
Simulations can be online or offline. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages. While offline simulations allow for a lot of collaborative peer learning, they do not have the flexibility of anytime, anywhere learning. Online simulations, on the other hand, allow for self-paced learning, but can lead to online fatigue and disengagement.
